Welcome to the Cock & Bottle Inn, Morden

Nestled in the heart of Morden The Cock and Bottle is steeped in tradition. With parts of the pub dating back some 400 years we offer all the charms of an “olde-worlde” Dorset village inn. It is said that the name of the pub was derived from the days when horses were stabled here. When an extra heavy load of wood from the nearby estate was being transported up the hill a lead horse was attached to the front of the team, this was known as the “cock” horse (as in the nursery rhyme, ride a cock horse to Banbury Cross). At the top when released the horse would wonder back to the stable. It is common belief that the building has always been an inn, Hence the bottle.

The Cock and Bottle is an award winning pub which strives to bring quality food and great service. We offer local ales brewed by our nearby Brewery, Hall and Woodhouse. To compliment this range we also serve Kronenbourg and Amstel lagers, Stowford Press cider and Guinness. Our wine range is very extensive and will compliment any of our dishes. All of our food is made to order using fresh ingrediants.
